I really hate walking in the afternoon. Sunshine is stupid.

Thankfully with all the trees, the gulch is still pretty shady.

Finally saw a train there today! I was beginning to wonder if those tracks ever get used. Of course it was loud as hell and kicked up a bunch of dust.

Clouds like this are pretty but they sure don't do their job.

I really wasn't in the mood to leave the gulch or even go on the trails, so when I got to that road on the side between points A and B, I just walked back and forth a bunch of times so I could get close to five miles. If I'd just turned back, it would have been 3.5 or so.

4.71 miles in 1:33, 10,125 steps, 394 ft gain
I added the zoomed-in look at that section on the right just for laughs. It was definitely boring to walk back and forth like that, but I can't argue with my desperate need for shade.
Another thing I saw for the first time today was two kids on bikes come zooming into the center from the trails on the East side. Never really thought of mountain biking as an all-ages sport, but of course it is. When they passed me later on the center trail, the first one called out so I'd know they were coming, which was nice.
I feel a lot better after the walk, but man, what a long day.
