Mandatory maintenance

I was really surprised a few days ago when all of a sudden the plantar fasciitis pain in my feet came roaring back, seemingly out of nowhere. It was a very different experience from when it first came along, when pain would build up during long walks. The situation just before this was the opposite, where I'd missed a lot of walks recently due to snow followed by very heavy rain. I always figured I could keep it at bay as long as I did my stretches and "toe yoga" before and after walks and swims, but I guess I have to do them all the time, even if I'm not active.

Another factor may have been the weighted blanket I got for Christmas. It was never comfortable to sleep with my feet facing up while on my back with the weight coming down perpendicular to them, so I was always twisting my legs. I folded it up and put it in the closet for now.

Speaking of maintenance, I have a new beard goal. My hope is to find a length that consistently looks good but is long enough that I no longer have to shave my neck at all. Any man who's had a beard knows neck maintenance is the worst part, and if you look at all the bearded men you encounter, it's quite often done incorrectly. Lots of guys take way too much off, leaving their neck bulging out. You have to have a very chiseled jaw for that beard line to work.

It's been years since I've made any major mistakes while shaving around my beard, but that doesn't make me hate it any less. I'd love to be able to just do a couple of swipes to clean up my cheeks twice a week and call it good.

Of course part of me would like to grow my beard really long and see how it looks, and obviously I'm in a great position to. I can do whatever I want with my hair, beard, and tattoos while I have this job. But of course I'll wait until I'm not really worried about what would happen if I had to find work again before I tattoo my hands. Beards can be neatened up with no notice at any time, though.

Of course I'm growing my hair out, too, so the way my hair and beard look together will be a factor.

Right now my beard is just long enough that I saw a familiar face in the mirror.

zardozzin'

I just found the photo of the last time I did that. I explained in the caption that I rarely put my hood up because it makes me look like I'm in Zardoz, but one time I definitely will is when I'm being attacked by mosquitoes. You can actually see two very large ones in the photo!

Dammit, now I want a Zardoz tattoo. But I'll have you know that sometimes tattoo inspiration strikes and I'm able to bat it away quickly. Last night I remembered the drinking bird toy out of nowhere and thought it'd be a fun tattoo idea, but then I googled and remembered how they actually look.
